The Karnatak University was come into existance through the Karnatak University Act 1949. It got the status of statutory University on 1st March 1950. Bagalkot, Gadag, Belgaum, Dharwad, Haveri, Bijapur, and Uttar Kannada districts are come under the jurisdiction of theuniversity.
Courses in Arts, Commerce, Education, Law, Management, Science and Technology and Social Sciences are offered by the University. KUD has its own Primary & High School that were established in the year 1964.
