Thanks to the continued and tireless efforts of a group of dedicated workers like GopinathBordoloi (the first Chief Minister of Assam. He was awarded with’Bharat Ratna’ posthumously), Bezbarua Madhab, BhubaneswarBarua, Sarat Chandra Goswami, Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed (formerPresident of India), and many others, and the help and cooperationof the people of Assam, the University could be eatablished in 1948.
